R&P Post 6: Current trends in Popular Music

Phoebe studied the charts to discover current trends in popular music which can be seen in the slideshow below:



Other trends in popular music that I have discovered in my research are:
  • Compilation tracks featuring two or more artists
  • EDM music
  • Strong solo female artists
  • A mix of dance and lyrical songs
  • Songs staying in the top forty and top one hundred for many weeks
  • Re-emergence of vinyls
  • Viewing through platforms such as YouTube and Spotify rather than buying the song
From this research, in continuing our project we will draw on the idea of possibly using a female solo artist.
