R&P Post 24: Planning my digi-pak panels

When we  were planning our digi-pak panels we wanted to follow conventions for debut albums which we saw in existing media products such as a clear central image, consistent colour theme, institutional information. We wanted to the ensure that it was representative of the artist and the whole album.

This is the template that we will use:
Our Digi-pak template

Below is our rough flat plan illustrating our ideas:

The flat-plan for the outside panels

Front Panel: We liked the idea of a medium close up shot of GiGi to clearly show her characteristics and the purple colour scheme and font that we will use for branding.

Back Panel: We want to show GiGi with the microphone that will characterise the performance set-up in our music video. We will incorporate the track listing and institutional information around it.

Front inside panel: On this panel we are planning to have a slightly different colour scheme with lighter colours to suggest a brighter, bubbly 'girl next door' side of GiGi and her signing her name.

Back inside panel: Around where the CD will be we had the idea of GiGi running around in a circle created through shots of her side. This acts as a metaphor for how women are trapped in today's society by gender expectations.

Below is an example of an existing album front cover which inspired our idea:

Overall, planning our digi-pak panels has been useful as it has given us a clear idea of what we need to shoot in our photo shoots.
