R&P Post 19: My Influences and vision for the project

Below is our visual, moving image 'pitch' for our ideas for our music video in the form of a Steal O Matic. It demonstrates our focus on GiGi who is also performing as different characters and it also shows how we wanted to create a conceptual narrative with ideas of  doll's house, puppet and 1950's housewife.



References in our Steal O Matic (in chronological order) and reasons why we chose them:

1. Flo Rida- Whistle = examples of side on shots that we will use for the whistling in the introduction
2. Demi Lovato- Heart Attack = examples of mid and beauty shots (Goodwin) which portray clear artist identity and the star identity (Dyer).
3. Blackpink- Boombayah = uses extreme close ups of mouth and lips which we will use to add shot variation
4. Foxes- Let Go For Tonight = Examples of literally sitting still and looking pretty as well as blinking then looking away from the camera
5. Meghan Trainor- All About That Base = Pastel coloured backgrounds which we will use in our different set ups and ideas of a doll's house
6. Jessie J- Price Tag = Puppet ideas, clear artist identity and shot variation
7. Melanie Martinez- Dollhouse = doll's house imagery as well as hair and make up ideas for the doll character
8. Meghan Trainor- Dear Future Husband= Bright colours, ideas about 1950's housewife and hand gestures
9. Meghan Trainor- No = ideas of a strong female role model
10. Kamelia- Amor = high saturation in editing combined with extreme closeups, hand gestures and not looking directly at the camera
11. Foxes- Holding Onto Heaven 
12. Gwen Stefani- The Sweet Escape 
13.  Lana Del Rey- Born to Die 
14.  Daya- Sit Still, Look Pretty 

Teacher feedback which we received was that there was very good cutting between different shot types, a very good range of shots, a good mix of narrative and performance and that it was clear our music video would be a conceptual narrative which was our aim from the beginning of the research process.

The Steal O Matic has been very useful in our project as it has allowed us to visualise what we want our music video to look like and has helped us with ideas of shot types and cutting transitions.
