R&P Post 23: Planning my web pages

Artist websites are very important as they act as a 'hub' for all elements of the marketing campaign to come together creating a cross platform synergised website which is easily accessed on technologically converged devices easily and accessibly. The different pages of the website are important as they create branding, allow for audience interactivity, have purchasing opportunities and need to be easily navigational to allow for traffic across the website. Below is Demi Lovato's homepage which illustrates the aforementioned ideas:

Demi's Home page
Existing websites that have been of key influence in our planning are:
  1. Selena Gomez
  2. Daya
Home page, fan forum and picture
Selena Gomez's website has been useful for us through the idea of having a clear title bar which we will incorporate into our wesbite which will allow for easy navigation through the website.

The idea of a fan forum of Selenators is something that we want to use which will allow for fun interactivity and the idea of community on our website.

The titling of pictures such as "Ottawa, Canada- sick sick sick night love you guys", despite being a small detail is very useful in illustrating artist identity which is something that GiGi would use.

The top of her website
Key elements of Daya's website that have been useful in our planning are the conventional top banner and the footer.

We liked the idea of having a signature/logo of the artist in the top left corner which we want to include.

The footer of her website
The footer has been a good reference point for the inclusion of institution information. By repeating the website pages at the bottom it allows for easier navigation of the website. We will want to include this in our website as well as the little arrow on the right which takes you back up to the top of the page quickly.

Another key element that we want to include in our artist website is a quiz which will allow for increased enjoyment and interactivity. Our inspiration for this came from the Little Mix Website:
Their Quiz
From studying these websites we created a list of conventional atrist website pages that we wanted to include in GiGi's website:
  • Home page
  • About/Bio
  • Photos/Gallery
  • Videos
  • News
  • Tour dates
  • Shop & Merchandise
  • Blog
  • Quiz/Games/Interactivity
  • Social media links= Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube
Below is our flat plan:

Below is an illustration of how we started to plan out some of our initial ideas for our website using Wix.
Brief Planning on Wix

Overall, planning our web pages has been useful as it has given us a clear idea of what we want GiGi's website to look like through incorporating conventions from existing artist websites.
